Project Information+-

Upon celebrating their 50th year in business, the engineering firm MLM approached us for a re-brand. Having merged with fellow engineers Fluid Structures, MLM needed a consistent visual language to unite their multi-disciplinary offer, which spans everything from rail and highway design to building restoration and marine structures.

In holding a series of workshops with major stakeholders throughout the company, we gained a comprehensive understanding of where the business had been and where it was heading. One key point that arose throughout the three workshops was the need to communicate how the multi-disciplinary nature of the company enabled them to truly own a problem, and generate the best solution.

We created a marque which shows a collection of arrows pointing inwards, reflecting their comprehensive service and how they envelop and own any given problem. The marque itself is both modern and timeless, a badge to highlight their heritage and embrace their future.

Another point which arose from the workshops was the fact that MLM wanted to change the public’s perception of engineering, and communicate how the work of an engineer touches every aspect of daily life, from healthcare and education buildings to retail developments and public spaces. We helped MLM to promote their thought leadership by adding prominent social media and latest news feeds to the website.

The re-brand not only united the various aspects of the brand into one clear visual language; it established an identity which prepared MLM for growth, expansion and an exciting future ahead.
