We’re huge fans of the new estate that Argent have been developing around King’s Cross. So it was great to collaborate with them on bringing one of their new buildings to life.

Created by Duggan Morris Architects, the ‘R7’ building is a flagship commercial building positioned in the rear of the site just behind Central Saint Martin’s. The long term vision is to create a unique blend of public space in the ground floor or ‘Assembly’; this will stand alongside flexible, grade-A office space.

The dynamics of the building are truly unique; R7 features an Everyman Cinema, curated art space, restaurants and retail all in a large open plan ground floor. We worked with the team at Argent to create a brand which communicated the vibrant nature of the development. We noticed other buildings and streets within the estate referenced King’s Cross’ history, all the way back to Boudicca; so with that in mind, we wanted a name that recorded the period of history when Argent have been involved. Taking the building’s working title of R7 perfectly symbolises the simple, elegant design of the building, as well as referencing the history.

The building has a unique colour to the cladding, featuring two shades of pink aluminium. We extended this into the brand identity by using fluro pink inks and a very distinctive palette. We delivered an oversize brochure marketing the scheme and a responsive website featuring interactive floor plans as well as designing the hoarding for the site.

We’ll have more images coming soon in our portfolio section soon.
