Winning at the UKAA Conference with Team Brickin’ It
Steve had a fantastic time at the 2019 UKAA annual conference, topped off with his team winning the BTR Game.
The UKAA (UK Apartment Association) conference and dinner is an annual event that celebrates all things BTR (Build to Rent). The event brings together practitioners from across the industry to share knowledge, network, and educate one another. As a renowned BTR branding expert, Steve was delighted to attend.
As part of the event, three teams competed in the BTR Game, a contest designed to show the process of developing a BTR scheme from start to finish. Simon Saint of Woods Bagot invited Steve to join his team for the competition.
Branding The Smithy
Delighted to accept, Steve created the name Team Brickin’ It for the group. Other teammates included some amazing and accomplished industry experts from Knight Frank and Long Harbour. They worked together to devise and pitch a Hammersmith-based BTR development named The Smithy.
Channelling his considerable experience branding existing BTR schemes Steve focused on the name and identity of The Smithy. He created a bold and vibrant brand identity befitting both the target demographic and wider Hammersmith area.
Considering everything from target markets, community feel, design and finance, Team Brickin’ It put together an impressive pitch that won over both the expert panel and audience.
Steve loved the whole experience and praised the work of everyone involved.
“It was a fabulous event,” he said. “And I couldn’t believe how much hard work all three teams had put in!”
